This year students at Chatswood High School will complete NAPLAN Online. This means students in years 7 and 9 will complete the national testing in writing, reading, conventions of language and numeracy in an online (computer-based) environment as opposed to the pen and paper testing they have done in previous years.
The testing will occur between Tuesday 14 May and Friday 24 May 2019. Please see attached the schedule for the testing, rooming and what students need to bring. This was issued to all students this week.
Students completed a practice test last term but are still encouraged to become familiar with the NAPLAN online format. Every student has the opportunity to trial the types of test questions, and understand the interactive test format and specific NAPLAN Online tools by visiting ACARA’s public demonstration site. Students are encouraged to complete appropriate tests for their year level.
Additionally, please see these resources for more information:
For the NAPLAN tests, students will be using school devices, however, we do request they bring their own headphones. Headphones will be provided if needed.
Disability adjustments, which reflect the student's normal level of support in the classroom, may be provided. Access to disability adjustments or exemption from the tests must be discussed with the Deputy Principal and a parent or carer consent form must be signed.
Students may be withdrawn from NAPLAN by their parent or carer. This is a matter for consideration by parents and again in consultation with the Deputy Principal. If you wish to withdraw your child from the tests, a parent or carer consent form must be signed.
Please make an appointment with the Deputy Principal, Liliana Maggio if you would like to discuss your child's participation in NAPLAN, by emailing email@example.com
